- When Did You First Realize You Were Green?
- A few years ago I moved in with my big sister, and she recycled. Her apartment was very small and she was sort of a procrastinator so the recycling didn't get taken in very often and it would build up and take over the place. She decided to stop recycling, she started throwing everything away. I just couldn't handle it though, she'd gotten me hooked on it. My recycling addiction led to me questioning other things I did and saw other people do. Soon I couldn't go for a walk without picking up someone else's garbage, then I stopped throwing my cigarette butts on the ground, then I stopped eating red meat and quit smoking altogether! Now I recycle everything, I use environmentally friendly cleaning supplies (baking soda, vinegar, etc), and I'm having trouble eating even chicken now. I always read the label before I purchase anything, and my diet is consisting more and more of produce and grains. I am still renting an apartment right now but someday I hope to live in a sustainable house. I try to spread the green whenever I can.
- How Do You Want to Make the World a Better Place?
- At the very least, I hope to convince at least a few more people that cigarette butts are garbage, they do not decompose, they dirty up the streets and parks. Start small, right?
