Project GreenHands - A grassroots ecological initiative of Isha Foundation

An inspiring ecological initiative of Isha Foundation, Project GreenHands seeks to prevent and reverse environmental degradation and enable sustainable living. The project aims to create 10% additional green cover in the state of Tamil Nadu, located in southern part of India, by planting 114 million trees by 2016, with massive people participation. This not for profit project created a Guinness World Record by planting plant 852,587 saplings in 6,284 locations across 27 districts in Tamilnadu through three days in the month of October 2006, with the participation of 256,289 people.
